Where my ladies at!
Hello everyone! I’m pumped to be representing the women’s game here on the DEFY Lacrosse Blog. My goal is to write content that will educate, but more importantly start healthy back and forth convos.
In the spirit of kicking off the spring season I’d like to respectfully remind everyone two things:
1.) This is just a game. A really fun one and totally the best when you win, but let’s keep perspective on the big picture. In the grand scheme of things, playing lacrosse is an added bonus to this thing called life. Let’s appreciate it, give back to it, and treat it with respect.
2.) Coaches are people too. There are REALLY great coaches, good coaches, mediocre coaches, bad coaches, and REALLY bad coaches. Please know the difference between the normal majority of good coaches who might make a mistake here or there, versus people that shouldn’t be around children. Hint hint, if they’re not a raging lunatic you’ve probably got a good one. I’m not a volunteer coach, but my grandma sent me this one time and man do I love her for sharing it.

And that’s my starting spiel. I could remind you that “refs are people too,” but we’ll save that for another time… maybe ;)
I’ll leave you with the quote of the week that I send out to my high school program every Monday:
“Ignore the glass ceiling and do your work. If you’re focusing on the glass ceiling, focusing on what you don’t have, focusing on the limitations, then you will be limited.” - Ava DuVernay
